Feminized seeds produce female plants. Gardeners do not have to worry about accidentally pollenating crops. Feminized seed is often found to produce plants that are more uniform (homogenous) than regular male/female seeds. Pollen produced from a male flower on a borne female plant will only have the X chromosome available. The following progeny will inherit a X from the male flowers pollen and an X from the egg. This results in seeds that are only able to inherit two X chromosomes which means virtually all the resulting seed will be female. All of the cultivars used in our feminized breeding program have been preselected to express the most desirable characteristics.
